Elodea canadensis Michx

چکیده
This study aims to determine the changes in quantities of chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b in various lead concentrations. The main parts of Elodea canadensis have been subjected to lead concentrations, such as 0.1, 0.5, 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 mg L, with periods of 24, 48, 72, 120, 168 and 216 hours. Chlorophyll a and b quantities were measured in control plants and lead concentrations of 5, 10, 20 and 100 mg L as 30 – 120 mg L and in lead concentrations of 0.1, 0.5 and 1 mg L as 20-70 mg L. Some morphological indications related with senescence were observed on leaves of the samples that were exposed to 50 and 100 mg L lead concentrations beginning from the 168 hour.

Ultrastructural alterations and HSP 70 induction in Elodea ca- nadensis Michx. exposed to heavy metals
The effects of the heavy metals lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) on the ultrastructure and the induction of Heat Shock Protein 70 (HSP 70) have been studied in Elodea canadensis Michx. As for the ultrastructural effects, sublethal concentrations of the metals caused alterations of the cell fine ultrastructure. Lead and cadmium induced alterations: chloroplast were swollen with altered thylakoid organ...
متن کاملDistribution and morphological variations of invasive macrophytes Elodea nuttallii (Planch.) H. St. John and Elodea canadensis Michx in Croatia
The invasive species Elodea nuttallii was recorded for the fi rst time in the Croatian fl ora in 2006, in the drainage channels of Kopački rit (Baranja). After its establishment, E. nuttallii begins to spread to the eastern and northern part of the drainage channel network from 2006–2009. High water levels are responsible for the linear spreading direction of E. nuttallii, E. nuttallii and E. c...
متن کاملEffect of Sublethal and Lethal Temperatures on Plant Cells '
A bstract. Soybean, Glycine max L., and elodea, Elodea canadensis Michx, leaves were exposed to sublethal and lethal temperatures and examined by light microscopy. Loss of ohlorophyll and swollen chloroplasts were observed in cells of elodea leaves exposed to sublethal temperatures. At the thermal death point of leaf cells of elodea and soybean, there was a disorganization of the tonoplast memb...
متن کاملPhotosynthesis In Elodea canadensis Michx: Four-Carbon Acid Synthesis.
Experiments to determine the early labeled photosynthetic products in Elodea canadensis show that after 2 seconds of exposure to NaH(14)CO(3), 45% of the (14)C incorporated is located in malate and aspartate. Phosphoglyceric acid and sugars account for 27% of the label during similar exposures. Equivalent amounts of organic acids and C(3) cycle products are present after 8 seconds. Four-carbon ...
